Ev & Rev Night 2 – The House Party

Culture D kicks things off with reggae 45s
After a successful first night the Friday of Labor Day Weekend in late August, the Umoja crew was invited by friend and supporter DJ DB to hold an informal Saturday session at his house near Dodger Stadium.

It ended up being an incredible night, with the temperature in the 70s, a nice breeze, stars in the sky and a rare full "blue" moon above the outdoor deck where the sound system was set up.

DB provided fried chicken and side dishes from the legendary LA restaurant Dinah's, and, along with several sets of dominoes, beer, whiskey and about 30 guests in attendance, the intimate event was set in motion. Dominoes were slapped till the wee hours, reunions and friendly conversations were held and, oh, yes, the music was top notch.

These pictures really do tell the story best: Relaxed sets from each of the Umoja crew DJs soundtracked the night with reggae, hip-hop and funk classics.
